I think there maybe even more issues, specifically with the frostbite engine. It was being rebuilt at the same time that they were going Battle Royal mode rather than a typical BF title. With that in mind it would fit that the new frostbite engine (frostbite 4) was not built with a typical BF title in mind and thus why there is so much missing and why there are so many problems.
If the frostbite engine was designed for one thing then made to be reconfigured for another....... You see where I'm going. It could be that everything is being delayed because either Ripple Effect (DICE LA) or DICE themselves have to make major changes to the frostbite engine. If that is the case summer is optimistic at best for season one.
Personally I would rather see 2042 get it's promised content for those still playing it, and rebuilt the frostbite engine for a Typical BF title and start development on 2142. Something that was hinted at 10 years ago with BF4 Final stand DLC. I mean this is what a lot of people were waiting for ever since BF4 final stand came out. Then we got BF1 - great game and well done. Then we got BF5 and I just think that fans were really waiting for the continuation of BF4. So when 2042 was shown that caused the hype that the BF fans were waiting for. And then we got this. So disappointing. I don't know anymore, this is just my opinion, but with most of the original DICE devs gone I'm not really sure we'll ever see that continuation of BF4 we've been waiting for, or maybe just hoping for.
