Weapons of the past
Why can't we use weapons from the past in the future? I looked at the sniper rifles in other modes. I wish they would add them to 2042.

TBH even discounting the Portal weapons which haven't been ported across, there are a load more guns from past titles which could be added (L85A3 Dice, please lol). Some might not offer anything really different to what is already in the game, but variety is always nice.

I think your last sentence hits the nail on the head. Honestly, I don't know how much of a different offering there is to add. Either the weapon ends up better than the others (then people complain and want it nerfed VHX), worse (largely ignored like the shotgun released), or the same (meh). Now, that isn't to say that experimenting with a new weapon is a bad thing (and a new carrot on a stick to unlock attachments for), but at the end of the day, if you want to be competitive, you probably aren't picking a low-"tier" weapon or even a mid-range one. Just look at the sniper rifle tier-lists for BF4, for example, they are all, for all intents and purposes, about the same (last I checked anyway).
I think it is the absolute pro and con that the T/+-menu and the various weapon attachments offer, to be able to change a weapon on the fly to fit the needs of different situations doesn't lead to much reason to use other weapons. At the same time, I do appreciate the versatility that the T/+-menu offers. Complete double-edged sword.
I think this is something that gets lost when there's calls to have 4x as many weapons and such as we currently have. I mean, sure, it's fun to have choice (even if they are largely the same), but does it really change much? Now, maps on the other hand (assuming we're looking past Locker/Metro 24-7 map rotations), is what truly gives variety to the game, and where we are sorely lacking.
