I don’t understand why Dice is digging in their heels so much. The community has given them so many better ideas to solve the problem.
Could it be because we had classes in Portal but no one is interested? Maybe a lot of people do enjoy the specialists? Maybe this few 100 people in this forum does not represent what does the majority of players (consoles included)likes or not. Just speculating. If everyone plays AOW and nobody plays portal, the player numbers are sending a message to DICE: we are ok with specialists.

I agree. I like the specialists. None of there abilities are to strong so it's not like this a hero shooter. I hated in every other battlefield not being able to choose the gaget's I want and the weapon I want. Random squads don't play together and don't do any teamwork. So I need to be able to choose the things I want
Hilarious for them to announce Specialist changes, and they are only cosmetic, oh and by the way, those changes won't hit until Season 2 (a year after launch).
And thats where the balance would break down. A sniper doing the work of a medic makes no sense whatsoever
What about the 98% of players who quit. I bet they loved specialists.
At this point, you can pine for the old BF days or hope that DICE and EA will make good on whatever game comes after 2042; but what is certain is that you can't have it both ways, DICE has made that clear.
Sticking to Specialists? Well, I guess you know who they are going to make the next game for and its not their older fan base who has carried them all these years.
I just came back to see what updates there are since I have not played since launch and the news of 1 map and continuing specialists means it is Time to turn the page.

I'm a Battlefield 4 player, and Portal classes don't compare to the versatility of BF4 classes. They are more like the specialists with limited weapon and gadget choice.
An beside, when I play a new game, I want to participate in the progression system, which isn't available when I use the "classes". And then I'd rather return to BF4, because there still many weapons I haven't completely unlocked and where still don't have the matching dogtag.
