Interesting fact, the current General Manager of DICE Oskar Gabrielson, lead the development effort for Battlelog.
I think DICE abandoned Battlelog due to it not working on consoles. That's my guess as to what happened.
Actually @OskooI_007 ,
The Battlelog system worked equally fine for the consoles in its early days for BF4 !
Where I think the EA Developer team (and actualy EA in general) got into trouble was when they experienced when dancing with the big boys like MSFT and Sony, then EA are the small guys who just need to follow orders and keep up, when the biggies are making their moves! So when aka MSFT or Sony decide its time for system updates to their consoles, then the date is fixed and it will hit you, no matter if you are ready for it or not.
And we also experienced how the Battlelog application was simply not being developed/tested robustly enough to work as intended across the multitude of various web browsers, versions and platforms out there in the wild. And it appears as EA simply just folded and gave up on it quite early on to be honest, when they started to comprehend that a web app is not just one application you need to make, not two, not 3 but many many in one, for it to be able to cater to all the variations just to maybe cover 60% of all variations across their BF player population base. (Chrome, Safari, Edge, Firefox, Opera, IE...).
Same reason why they pulled the plug on the Battlescreen App. And why we still today have trouble with the Battlelog, that was left in shambles even for the PC version...
It was simply 'a bridge too far' for EA back at that time. Since then EA have invested heavily in acquiring great companies specializing in mobile online gaming (latest were Playdemic and Glu) to bring in the required expertise and know-how inhouse, so think they are in a much stronger position to make great things and profit going forward in this area!
