@kregoraam sure that if the only critical difference with previous good BF games and BF2042 were the specialist system (minus the clown avatars) and the game was properly polished and optimised, BF2042 would had been competing with BF3 and Bf1 as the best received BF game so far
Yeah, I agree, the "(minus the clown avatars)" is one of the key issues.
We wouldn't had the discussion, why the only medic is a woman, which was pretty much compensated by adding the team revive ability to the already overpowered Angel.
We wouldn't have red, blue and green lights on the front of the uniforms, because there is no other way to tell friend from foe.
We wouldn't have cringy catch phrases before and after the matches.
But I believe that EA/DICE put so much effort, time, and money into the design and development of the clowns, that it is unlikely, that they fix this issue at the base.
At the launch I would have suggested soldier models for All-out Warfare, specialist models for Hazard Zone only. But now, where the remaining player more or less ignore HZ, this might not be an option anymore.
@kregora yet they knew it would not be well received at all, it's no surprise that their lying trailer hidden them to show only proper military outfit. Hence the question if they knew it will not be received, why the hell didnt they put so much effort in them. Irrational and dumb decisions seems to be the briefing check list of 2042 ^^.
@Psubond it's not too far into the game to change this. As many core aspects of the game are utterly wrong, they admitted that many need rework, this would be simply one more to do before the relaunch in summer. Let's face it, this summer isn't an update, it's a relaunch.
Beside, people did not settled to this play style, there are way too many strong disapproval. Why we would need what the author said, because "this" in opposition of the specialists, is in the heart of BF. There are multiple demonstrations on the forum on how the new style completely diluted the notion of role and by consequences damage team & squad group effort. Notion that class system built over years.
Now it doesn't mean scrap everything 2024 is. there are good ideas. And i do like giving more weapon choice for everybody (for exemple a recon should be able to pick Assault rifle, or SMG). But some bare limits need to be set, especially on gadgets.
Now why they won't scrap the specialists, why they came with this idea at first ? Not because it's good gameplay idea. Because the entire idea of specialist was there to make more money. Aka, selling more dumb esthetic for them while surfing in the Battle Royal trend wave. And who know, even sell new specialists that you can only buy, not unlock. Quite a backfire for them, but that's what happen when you just copy some trend that doesn't fit your product without thinking.
PS : some youtuber explained that during the close BETA they were just a few specialist, and they more or less matched the class .... so ... the solution was right there. But noooo, let's make 10 characters because it's co🤭OOOoool.

i am against restricting gadgets by class. a lot of us have settled into a play style (i have over 400 hours on the game). i like the flexibility we have now. do what you want with the cosmetic side of it but the only people i have seen whining about flexibility are the helo pilots who can't handle getting shot at by rockets. just because we were restricted on gadgets in the past does not mean it has to be shoved back into this game. like i said it is too far into the game to take away the flexibility we have. do whatever you want with the look and the sound of the specialists but don't take away their flexibility.

Honestly good for you if you like it, however not sure where you've been looking at. No helis pilots are not the only person "whining" above the removal of the class system ^^. There are countless topics about this matter with countless people explaining as i already said how this system was at the core of BF and how replacing it with specialist damaged the notion of role.
So i'll say it again, considered the amount of people that request the class to be brought back it's not too late at all. Especially with the fact that the one year delay is to rework the core gameplay. We are not speaking just about this forum, but pretty much every single review by the gaming community, and many other forums / reddit / discords / youtubers etc ...
Marking those as "whining" is at worse condescending, at best a demonstration of a deep misunderstanding of one of the pillar of what make a BF gameplay.
Mistake that EA did, it didn't attracted the player base from the licences they try to grab the idea from, and it made the BF early players angry. Quite a backfire.
But again, glad you like it at least some are happy. And things will probably not change as already said not because it was a well though game design, only because it was designed to sell more. Buying new specs, buying new skins. Altho the sell of 2042 already being disastrous and the specialist being hated by so many, EA hoping to make money on them would be blind disillusionment
- Psubond4 years agoLegend@VRACinque i don't care why they don't change it as long as they dont. the reason i said helo pilots are because i have seen in the past the excuse that angel can fire too many rockets at them and it isn't "fair" that they can't just loiter over the battlefield and "farm" infantry like they could in past games. they actually have to think
