@CantGetRightFor me its a realistic Military Sim. Give me BF2 (PC) with some bells and whistles in it. That Game was what BF was always supposed to be not a COD/Fortnite/Skins r Us that it is going to turn into.
- 4 years ago@AzoreanAssassin I completely agree with you. BF2 has always been my favorite. I have been putting fewer and fewer hours into each one since. I hope maybe they will introduce BF2 into portal along with 2142.
- 4 years ago@CantGetRig I would be completely happy if they just updated BF2 to the current Gen graphics and FPS with New Maps and Weapons. Give us Commander Mode (Unlocks when you reach General Rank), Give us Platoons, Being able to communicate with the squads would be great.
What we have is a bug ridden game with nothing that really says that its a BF game to be honest, its just another run of the mill Military Shooter...

I wish to see BF2 with modern graphics ☹️ BFBC2 killed this franchies and BF4 tried to revive it but then BF 1 happened and turned it back to casual run and gun that BFBC2 brought in 2010. I hate BFBC2 more than 2042. That game destroyed this game...

Well, you aren't going to get too many people backing you up on that opinion.

The battlefield franchise set the trends for the past two decades. The service has connected players between different time zones and continents. The game had been the hub for the servers run by BF Community. Permanent servers offered various game modes, number of tickets, set of maps, and various in-game rules. Battlefield used to offer Ranked Servers, Private Ranked Servers, Unranked Private Servers.
Battlefield is a Squad consisting of more than 4 players in Squad, with active VoIP, global chat, team chat, squad chat, statistics page. Battlefield is a Conquest game mode with Assault (Rifleman, Rifleman Grenadier), Medic (Combat Medic), Support (Automatic Rifleman), Engineer (Saper), Anti-Tank (AT Grenadier), Sniper (Marksman), Spec-ops (Commando). Battlefield is a theatre of war with its assets and unprecedented destruction. Battlefield is vehicular Conquest, Infantry Conquest, Domination, RUSH, TDM, SQTDM, Chainlink, CTF. Battlefield is Strike at Karkand, Operation Metro, Operation Locker (Infantry based-maps). Battlefield is Gulf of Oman, Caspian Border, Siege of Shanghai (Vehicular Maps). Battlefield is a custom-made server banner logo with a description. A battlefield is a platoon, a match between clans, or any friendly competition. BATTLEFIELD is an endless one more round syndrome with the players on voice communicator on Saturdays evening.
A true BATTLEFIELD EXPERIENCE nowadays happens between PLAYER BASE vs PUBLISHER/DEVELOPER 🥳.
- ATFGunr4 years agoLegend@Arashenstein BFBC2 was the most fun! There was two active competition leagues, our clan had players across the US, Canada, UK and Belgium. If you’re hoping for milsim, ARMA is apparently great if that’s your thing? Yer crazy man! After the trainwreck that V was, 2042 is so far sideways that people are looking back at V with fondness. BC2 was great!

BC2 was great! As @Daeyon-be pointed out, Battlefield used to be a happy medium between the more run & gun / every-man-for-themselves nature of other arcadish shooters like CoD and more milsim ones like ARMA. BF was always a more casual experience compared to true milsims but it was still further along on that scale than CoD.
....so this idea of just saying "play ARMA" when someone brings up wanting the more tactical aspects, milsim traits, etc. of past BF games is simply dismissing their point. You see, BF used to have this formula already baked into the game. Like BC2 which I agree with you was a great title. ....so was BF2 and BF3 IMO that if they just could have been brought into the modern era in regard to improvements could be really great games today. .....something Infinity Ward had discovered by tapping into their own past titles (MW) and bringing back a more "mature" version of CoD for players which was a big success.
The thing is, there are more and more of these titles making the move to console in recent years and with the success of ported titles like DayZ, Insurgency Sandstorm and Hell Let loose, smaller devs are really beginning to understand that there is a market for these more authentic, lethal, tactical shooters. I've said it before but I think we are in the beginning of a sort of renaissance for these types of games and it's a shame IMO that companies like EA / DICE and Ubisoft don't realize that they already have the potential in some of their IPS / franchises like BF, R6, GR, etc. where they could easily exploit this.
I am convinced a "BF6" that tapped into the formula of BC2, BF3, BC2 or even BF4 would have been a success vs. the current failure of BF2042. Some of the rumors said they would be borrowing heavily from BF3 to make "BF6" so when I it was finally revealed, it was a huge let down to me. The rumors had roots but tied to the later announced Portal mode which is the only reason I bought the game.
