What is mesh quality?

What is mesh quality in display settings? I think in BF3 it was responsible for distance over which detailed models appear.

I notice sometimes far away soldiers appear as '2D', with just sliding across terrain in running position, without running animation.

Would increasing mesh quality help with this?

  • @GoguJinnBasically mesh quality in BFV and BF2042 is the amount of unessesary clutter which is not players or vehicles that gets rendered when looking from a distance.

So if you just want to find enemies better, keep it on low.

In BF3 it allegedly helped to see spotting triangles from futher away but this is not BF3 :D

I suspect that the setting that concerns the distant sliding soldiers etc is that one brand new setting in BF2042: "High Fidelity Objects Amount". I have not tested it though because I do not want to potentially tax my GPU even more when it is so old

  • @GoguJinn Mesh means the geometry/objects around the map.
A higher detail will render an object with more polygones/more details.

Increasing may help, but not sure if the frosbite engine will turn 2D in 3D 🤔
