I haven't given up on it yet, but for me the reason I didn't buy it straight away is because I couldn't afford to buy a scalped xbox x series and xbox one wasn't crossplay with pc and xbox x series. So, I just didn't get it. I played the beta and the free trial. I was hoping it'd come to gamepass considering how terrible it had done and the fact it's an EA title. The several dozens of hours I have played it on various accounts have been lackluster since I can only play with the old gen players on smaller maps. I played the 128 version at my younger brother's house since he was able to get his hands on one of the x series xbox's and has a gaming pc. The next gen version seems empty and even with crossplay on, I couldn't get into a match with my brother.
My biggest complaint is there's no map destruction like there was in BF BC 2. I thought it was made abundantly clear that most BF players just want to destroy the entire map and dig trenches by driving tanks through buildings, placing c4 on structural supports, and collapsing bridges.
Beyond the lack of destruction, my other complaints are against the new conquest cluster system for control zones. I think it's dumb to divide the map that way.
The BF portal mode and Squad modes that add nothing to the game. BF Portal doesn't even work on console half the time. Would have rather just had 2042 version of those older maps and weapons/vehicles rather than a hashed in PC specific creator mode. Custom lobbies and servers worked just fine before for those wanting them.
Still hate that Hardcore servers with Friendly Fire, Limited Hud, and Realistic Ballistics haven't been added.
I dislike there aren't any naval warfare maps or dog fight maps.
I wish the in-game stats and accolades were easier to navigate and review.
I hate that scopes make you look like a spotlight and you can be spotted by drones and players.
I hate the hovercraft and how 2042 doesn't require the player to enter the vehicle like BF1 and BFV did.
There are a LOT of things I dislike, but for me the issue never was weapons. some people say the game doesn't have enough content, but I'm content with the weapons. I just want more options - maps, vehicles, equipment, specialists, environments, map sizes, and more destruction!
lack of server browser and persistent servers.
lack of communication and dice being SO * SLOW with the updates were the main thing that pissed me off though

Lack of a server browser and persistent lobbies/servers.
I can't tell you how frustrating it is to sit in an MM queue for several minutes, then waiting for players only to join a map you don't want to play with a bad ping no less.
