I've been playing a while now, and have got to Tier 1 with several SMGs and assault rifles. I've tried using the DMRs on several occasions, but I just can't find a convincing use case for them.They are obviously outperformed at close range by both SMGs and ARs. Arguably SMGs are comparable at medium range - I know I'd prefer the K30 for most 30-50m encounters - and an assault rifle in single fire seems to be a much better choice - they basically have no recoil in that mode. At longer range, by the time the recoil on, say the VCAR, has settled, any half-decent sniper will have landed their shot.Am I missing something?

@filthy_vegansI don’t think you’re missing something, the GAME is missing something. All the weapons are way more accurate than they should be, at least in game. A DMR in past BF games was more accurate than an assault rifle, with a commensurate range. You could tap fire it pretty quick though for when you got hunted down, so it had the ability to maybe get you out of a jam. Rights now you can snipe with a pistol, an SMG, or any weapon. The LMGs can provide consistent long range fire. Currently there is little reason to equip a DMR.Eventually they’ll attempt to balance the weapons better, and probably screw up my current favourites 😉

Honestly, they feel fairly useless overall.SMG's, AR's, and LMG's are all equally if not more effective at mid-range where the marksman rifles are supposed to shine while still retaining far superior short range power.Honestly, the only one that seems to have any value is the SVK since it can fairly consistently 2-shot enemies with high powered ammo...though lose most of your mag size.I've been playing with the AC-42 a lot more recently, especially single shot, and I genuinely don't see a reason to use a marksman rifle over it ever again. It doesn't quite have the same damage at range, but it remains stupidly accurate even when firing quickly. With the bonus of it still being more effective at shorter range engagements.VCAR I don't get as a weapon in this game in the slightest. I honestly haven't the foggiest clue what niche it fills that isn't filled better by multiple other weapons.

Zero point in using a dmr lol especially after the ridiculous nerf……. Just use the Ak with longer barrel and 4x scope and switch to single fire.The svk is ok in 2 shot bursts but after that bullets randomly go anywhere

They're sniper rifles for players who aren't particularly good at sniping. It's important to remember that half of the player base is below the median skill level.

Given the state of SMGs, there is little point in using anything else to be honest.
Whilst yes, there a few outliers that are good in their niche, SMGs are simply too versatile with few, if any downsides especially once spec'd up.

@filthy_vegans I think the VCAR is a special case, as it lacks the range of the other two DMRs. The DM-7 and the SVK are both decent weapons, but I do understand that players that are accustomed to auto fire and plenty ammo prefer different weapons.

@filthy_vegans Yeah, it's mainly because AR, LMGs, and even SMGs are still very accurate at long ranges. DMRs should fill the distance gap between Sniper Rifles and ARs, but there is no gap. They would have to add more spread to the other weapons, but that would impact the skill gap. I just don't think they are going to put in the effort for 2-3K players. The game is dead.
