Probably for the same reasons that media get early access to new movies, cars, games, tech devices.
You want to maximize awareness of your product just prior to release.

How would that affect the awareness of the product? People are either playing it or they are seeing streamers play it. Either way is a win.

- UP_LordPlumber2 years agoSeasoned Ace@Sohsuh Its not "Early access". They're playing separate build of the game available for a select group of people. A closed test if you will.
They don't keep any progress or unlocks from it since their main accounts are not linked to it.

The vids created by these creators will likely reach a few thousand additional people who either forgot S6 launches tomorrow or weren't previously aware. Fringe customers.
This strategy gives that set of fringe customer a touch of extra motivation to check out S6 - as now they get to say "I was one of the first".
You don't see the value because there isn't any for you. This marketing is targeted towards a different group.
