Why even have attachments?

In CoD the attachments mostly make the weapon so much better and a lot of them you can't wait to unlock... yet with this game just about every single attachment seems worse than the default. Haven't come across a single one I have unlocked and felt it made any noticeable difference or ones I haven't unlocked and said "Can't wait to get this one!".

How do you foul up having an unlock system that's as underwhelming as the entire game is so far?

  • @-NME-M0710NM4N I kind of agree. I understand that things need to be balanced but every attachment (except some of the sights) has a equally negative effect that makes them feel kinda useless. I do find some of the ammo attachments interesting but the barrel and under barrel attachments feel almost useless. Adding a muzzle break shouldnt increase horizontal recoil just becuse it decreases vertical recoil. Unlocking attachments does feel very underwhelming
  • @-NME-M0710NM4N I do agree that they don't do much. On top of that I don't get why we need 3-4 attachments for each weapon that does the exact same thing.

Half the barrel attachments and underbarrel attachments do the exact same thing "Recoil while static/moving +10"

Im not sure if there's any hidden stats that we can't see, but it seems like there's a ton of redundant attachments for each gun that are only there to give the illusion of a deeper customisation level than we actually have.

@BizzyVaping Some of them, especially the sights have different aesthetics.
For example in BF4 there were 3 types of each category of optic, 1 for each of the 3 factions. A lot of people preferred the Chinese one because it was the cleanest with the least not-transparent material

@UP_HawxxeyeYeah I don't mind the different sights. They all have a their advantages/disadvantages.

Its the underbarrel grips for example. Every gun seem to have 3 or 4 that do exactly the same. They add the exact same values to accurancy/handling/whatever.

@BizzyVaping At least as far as the UI tells us.
I would wait for Symthic to get the actual values.
If they end up being exactly the same then it is a big failure

The problem in BF in general is that the information in the game is never correct. The values are often completely random. This is because the information in the game is just text that was created at some point. But it is not real data that comes from the game. That's generally about what's in the game, that's just text without meaning. As an example BC2, BF3, BF4, BF1... according to the text in the game, all weapons were different, but in reality the values of most weapons from the same category were completely identical. Only the Recoil had minimally different values.

In BF2042 the discrepancy between the text and the values in the game is extremely wrong this time, many attachments simply have no data in the code, so they are only optical changes to the 3D model, although they should change the data according to the text. Some of them work completely different in the game than the text says. Like some attachments for barrels, the text says they improve vertically, in fact they improve horizontally. Or information about the rate of fire, according to the text it is reduced by 50, actually it is increased by 50. The information about the magazine size is also completely wrong for some weapons.

  • Suppressor and under grip are vital to my playstyle.

Suppressor keeps me off the mini map unless spotted, the grip means I have better hip fire for those surprise close range engagements.
