There should be an option for console crossplay only.
Considering the issues DICE has had keeping cheaters out of PC it should be a given that you make that issue a non-issue for console players by enabling an option whereby we CAN choose to crossplay with all, none or only console.
In this day and age players are provided choices at every turn I find it strange that a massive development team like DICE haven’t included this.
Some players may not mind but personally after playing WARZONE I’m now totally turned off by PC crossplay.
Cheaters ruin games for people and this game looks like a return to form I’m super excited for this game and I’d hate to see it ruined due to a simple option missing like this.
I know I’m not alone on this. Can we get some info on wether this feature is coming?
- ElliotLH5 years agoHero+@CptDuffy Since crossplay seems to be a work in progress, there is a slim chance that amendments can be made down the line. Until that time, assuming any changes are made of course, it is all or nothing.

Ah it may be at the moment but I’d expect better from DICE. This was already an issue for WARZONE and COD in general and you’d think they’d have been able to read the room on this one.

Apex Legends does crossplay right.
- Console vs console crossplay enabled by default
- The only way to crossplay with PC is if a console player invites a PC player into the lobby
I'm surprised DICE isn't using the exact same crossplay system, seeing how upper management at DICE report directly to Vince Zampella at Respawn Entertainment now.

Then fix the cheating..
- 5 years ago@CptDuffy Definitely need console vs console only. Its been proven that console players aren't interested in cross play with PC due to hackers mostly. I think it will happen shortly after launch, but its still surprising to see it not be in at launch.
- TankerFlanker5 years agoSeasoned Ace@CptDuffy I'm all for this, I do not want to play against or with PC players, if I wanted to play with PC players I would get a good PC and be on that platform, but I have a few friends on Xbox I would like to play the game with and it's going to ruin the experience with PC players in the mix along with all the problems PC gaming brings to FPS games with cheats and their tweaking graphic settings for an advantage.
I honestly thought they were smarter than this after seeing how warzone is and other crossplay games with PC.- TTZ_Dipsy5 years agoHero+
Nothing is set in stone - Apex has a type of PC opt-out for example so we'll just have to wait and see
- 5 years ago@TTZ_Dipsy Yes I’m sure eventually they will make that change however I’ve been around since the first BF and we all know that launches have been rocky putting it mildly with the exception of BF1. So why wouldn’t they add an option that’s clearly going to cause them grief without doing so.

@CptDuffy i would also like it to see the option to Opt-out only from Cross-play with PC and still be able to stick with the Xbox players.
But as it's been confirmed for now is that it's set like "All or nothing".
So at this point we have to wait and see if any changes are coming for this.

Not a bad idea but lets start by making sure strike packs and other mods on console are made to be obsolete to make playing the game a better experience for all console players.

At this point I don't see an issue with splitting the player base, I agree with most here EA/DICE need to change "Cross play" to "Off" for the good of the game.

First time commenting on these BF forums but I have to agree with the OP. I think the default setting should be "Console vs. Console crossplay only" and then have it so that players can OPT IN to "Console/PC crossplay" if they so desire. I think the vast majority of console players would be more happy with this.
Heck, I have a friend who plays on PC and I'd gladly stop playing with him if it meant I'm only playing against console players. Going back to BFV and BF1 is so much more fun for various reasons but no PC players is certainly one of them. The extremely large engagement distances that 2042 allows is one of the problems that Console/PC crossplay exasperates.
