@AutotitansMouse and keyboard support + input based matchmaking would genuinely transform this game. All the other stuff about specialists/classes/balance etc. all pale into comparison to the giant issue that input disparities creates. The game just simply is not fun on consoles, at all.
Battlefield games always have longer engagement ranges than other shooters which is why it has always confused me that it also has by far the weakest aim assist. However, in previous titles, you’ve only been playing against people with the same input deficiencies as you. Now in BF2042 we have cross-play against PC AND 128 player maps that are larger and have even less cover so the engagement ranges are even longer than your typical Battlefield.
All these factors add up to a disastrous experience for console players.
This is a big missed opportunity for EA because a lot of PC players bought consoles recently due to the state of the GPU market. If console actually played well, they’d sell a tonne of $70 copies of the game to ex-PC players.
I think many (like me) are now starting to look at Vanguard and wonder whether that’s a better option since it offers mouse and keyboard support.
