Why the 64 lobby cap on last gen?

Players have been more than disappointed upon hearing this sad news adding an option for last gen players to queue in with 128 player lobbies can still be done with a little note saying queue at your own risk. I would be more than willing to take the risks to experience raw battlefield chaos on last gen. Dice and EA you need some time with battlefield 2042 on last gen.

@yourmoamsaho It's stripped back version of the game on last gen consoles (maps will also be smaller and less detailed). They just wouldn't handle the demands of the current gen version - apparently even with BFV it was at the limit.

If i remember correctly bf4 there was a 64 man lobby for xbox ps4 and pc...xbox360 and ps3 were 32 man lobbies...do to the gen gap..THIS i think is normal when transitioning to next gen while still giving last gen an option to still play.. Good news is new gen can down load old gen version so no friends are left behind...

OldGen consoles can't handle 128 players even if the maps are smaller.. There will be so many new things in BF2042 and the limitation for OldGens is set for every game.

Keep in mind that Old PS4 that has been released in 2013 can't even handle new games in 60Fps. Its 8 years old console so EA/DICE need to adjust the game for those consoles. 🙂

@MustyChickenDOH Exactly, and maps like Caspian Border on PS3/360 were mostly defoliated in order to even run compared to their PC/PS4/Xbone counterparts.

If this game will be in cloud gaming on Xbox, then you will be able to play the xbox series x/s version on your xbox one with the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC players with 128 players.
However, as far as I know, it's not currently possible to play PS5 games on PS4.

I upgraded my one S its the orginal battlefiel1 military green 1 tera edition.
Dropped a samsung ssd in it. Its faster than the OneX and 4k should the option not be available to everyone?
Is there a better reason why they would make a game tailored to a system that has supply issues?
