@EA_AticI was just going to say the same thing especially with those XP boosting lobbies going on but DsciSiv is quite probably the highest legit ranked player in the game. So with that said there will no doubt be a huge skill gap between the 2 of them.
Just bad luck I guess. I’m sure this doesn’t happen every round.- 3 years ago@I_DYN4MO_I This happens quite often because such players are almost always online and when there is a dip in the number if total players, you are pretty much guaranteed to get them in you match.
And it does not matter if they are on your side or on the opposite side - the game becomes not fun.

Going to have to agree that rank doesn't necessarily relate to skill. Sure, someone with a high rank might be incredible, but they might just have played a lot (or used those XP servers).
I mean, I'm not a massively high rank (S25 or something) but I'm terrible regardless.
- bitcloudrzr3 years agoSeasoned Veteran@EA_Atic There is a major issue with team balancing not being effective enough and it would be appreciated if the seriousness of this would be brought up with the team.
- 3 years ago@EA_Atic Such an argument applies to 1% of the real cases. But we do not need to guess; you can look at the actual game stats and see that players with such levels in 99% cases will have by far the highest score at the end of the game.
- bitcloudrzr3 years agoSeasoned Veteran@YLD_fox I will agree that team balancing is essential but asking for SBMM is unrealistic for a game like BF, and like others have said rank does not matter because everyone will eventually hit high ranks.

Because that will be the death-knell for the Battlefield series for me and a lot of others.
Leave that inanely stupid crap to other titles, good grief.
- bitcloudrzr3 years agoSeasoned Veteran@Ironhead841 It is good for 5v5, 6v6 type games, hardly a good case for 64-128p.

@EA_AticIf SBMM (Skill-Based Match Making) is a big deal for some people, why not make it a personal choice, as you did with the Enable-Cross-Play setting?
Just introduce a setting "Skill-Based Match Making=On/Off"- Ironhead8413 years agoHero
SBMM has never (nor should it ever) been a part of Battlefield, how I am supposed to play with my friends (some higher rank, some lower) if SBMM is dictating were we play?
Battlefield has (until the last couple of titles anyway) been mostly a community-based series, SBMM prevents that.
Find some friends to play with, jump on TeamSpeak or Discord with them and stop worrying about what rank/experience other players are and have some fun.
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@Ironhead841 Past BF games promised skill based match making, it never worked. The issue in this game is some will boost for rank, I guess it makes them feel good. I’ve seen some players who are just good. They jump, and slide, and prone and push pints like crazy. Had a German Canadian in ATF (he knows who he is), was the best player I’ve ever seen. He was accused of hacking in 4 and 1 all the time. I played in his squad regularly, just being near him and trying to copy his play style brought my skill level up. On my own however, I’d still be pretty average lol. In this game with booster servers, as well as the horrible net code / desync / lag issues, you can’t tell the difference between skill and luck, skill and ping, skill and cheating. The word train wreck is an underestimation of what a train wreck is compared to 2042.

Just introduce a setting "Skill-Based Match Making=On/Off"SBMM wouldn't work well with Battlefield unless you're looking at a TDM small server. There's both too many people on one server and too few total concurrent people to allow for it. And frankly having 1/128 people that is higher level isn't that big of a difference. Especially when someone can be a high-rank because they either play a lot or can get a high score by being support/ptfo.

@YLD_fox Everyone has to play with cross-play enabled as various issues and player base preferences mean cross-play disabled lobbies are empty. When you ask for SBMM for a game with 64-128 players, there will be a huge detriment to many players while also fundamentally changing how matchmaking works. You will never have a server browser again due to people being locked out, and BF is not a small scale TDM or kill based mode so there are many more variables at play.
Instead of advocating for such drastic changes that are going to negatively impact most people, team balancing is a solution that is known to work from the implementation in BF4 and 1. This method allows people from the same region and friends to easily play together while the game does its best to ensure an even distribution of player skill. Although not perfect, we already have evidence from the two previous games that used team balancing that it does a good job of keeping games competitive. A high skill player or squad on one team is not a problem with a game as large as CQ or BT, the game doing nothing to give you people to counter those enemies is and that is what good team balancing will accomplish.

@bitcloudrzrEmpty lobbies can be solved with bots. A bit better bots than now, but still it is within reach.
My point is - if your are ok or like playing with such up-high players - it should be up to you - just disable SBMM.
For majority or the beginners and occasional player such skill differences is a deterrence.
In any sports, there are leagues. You never put amateur football player to play against a pro. He will be crushed and will stop playing this sport. 1% of who want to become pro will push through and try to learn. And only 1% of them will become pros, others will quit.
That’s how it works in real life, free-for-all approach in Battlefield is a gimmick for a limited audience.
Team balancing may be a solution, but again without bots it will work only on Friday and Saturday evening when there is a spike in concurrent players count so BF has someone to pick from.
And based on BF5 and 2042, I don’t see the balancing happening any time soon.
