Will a last gen physical copy run on a new gen?

My PC isn't a very high end one (I run BFV on medium setting), I wanted to get a new PC but I don't see it happen anytime soon (WHY too pricy), so I plan to upgrade my Xbox instand (from One S to Series X), however, i'm not sure when i will buy the new console (I need to get a 4K TV before), if I will get the game on a Xbox one S disc (in case my PC can't run it, I have EA Play Pro so I can try if it work for free), will I be able to play it on a Series X? or will I need to buy another copy?

  • According to Battlefield 2042 pre-order information, you'll need to buy the gold or ultimate addition if you want the ability to upgrade to next-gen.

Publishers are raising the price of PS5 games by $10 compared to PS4 games. So the standard edition on PS4 will cost $60, and the standard edition on PS5 will cost $70.

So as you can see, if the standard edition on PS4 could be upgraded to PS5, everybody would just buy the PS4 version for $10 cheaper.

(I used PlayStation as an example, because it gets confusing talking about Xbox naming schemes. We have Xbox One S , Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox One X. Microsoft really has to come up with a better naming scheme. 😰

    standard edition

    Gold edition

    ultimate edition

  • @mathematics654 If your PC can run BFV on medium, I suspect you will be able to run BF2042 on it as well, but I do understand wanting to play it on the best settings possible…
