Will Mac be supported? I know that I am going to be probably be roasted for this, but I would dearly love to see this ported to a MAC as I use it for work and not a Windows Machine, It is pretty decent the Mac that I have, and was hoping if this could possibly arrive to the Mac. I'm not here to say Mac is number one, or anything, just asking if it will be someday supported for us Mac users.

@KnightRa1der As far as i'm aware, there is no mac client coming out, and i can't find anything on a possible future client.Alternatives would be a dual boot with windows or linux if your hardware meets the requirements, you'd still have to buy a windows version of the game though. (much like anyone using proton/wine on linux)I saw some mention of stadia/gforce now etc as an option on mac, but i figure that's not what you're asking for.

Thank You so much for an actual decent posting 🙂 I cannot dual boot, as apparently that was a 32bit feature, but i have the 64bit m1 feature on my macbook, but am running parallels windows on my machine, but i don't know if it can handle it as it can barely handle call of duty when using a vmware even though my macbook is pretty much the highest for gaming performance, so I don't understand why it has some issues, but i'm looking more into it, for BF2042 I guess that I will just have to wait till the Xbox Series X gets it and hopefully one day they'll also include in their performance Mouse and Keyboard. What a pity that Mac isn't yet supported, but many thanks again for a peaceable look into it.

@KnightRa1der it's just been mentioned to be released for Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5 and PC. Noth specifically mentioned for MAC. And as those are the minimum PC requirements for the Beta of the Game, you may be barely able to run it on a MAC anyways. What can or will come later we don't know yet. 🤞 Greets, Travis

Hi @KnightRa1der,It's unfortunate for the BF game loving MAC users, but reality is that the total market potential by making such FPS games as BF2042 simply do not sell enough licenses to make it a financial viable business for EA to spend the money on it to do so.The EA Dev team also need very different and additional skillsets then to do the dev for MAC, while actually the consoles and the PCs are having many components/aspects in common, which makes it easier also for the EA tech team to do a decent job on it.Apple insists on some very constrained dev aspects and using their dedicated dev platform as well, plus the licensing rules are also very deliberate...Example is you see sophisticated art designer tools for the MACs which you dont find easily as good still these days for the PC world, but you also pay some serious money of literally thousands of $ for those great and astonishing apps.As MAC aficionado you might also find it OK to pay like $20 per month for your MAC game license (which is common for many MAC programs) while you have noticed in this forum many players here have even complained finding the $60 one time only license payment outrageous expensive. So bit sad of course that we don't get a BF2042 MAC version so also the MAC players could join us, but the risk is probably too high for EA daring to bet on it paying back...

@KnightRa1der Not really a gaming demographic, windows (as much as it's tried to marginalize it at times after microsoft started with the xbox) has always had a fairly large game development following on x86 architecture, and apple for a long time used their own non-x86 chips to further complicate matters outside the OS differences.There was a little traction from some developers after apple switched to x86 chips and started shipping hardware with more "conventional" graphics options from AMD and Nvidia, but if i'm not mistaken they're moving away from that again.The M1 should be ARM-based, though ARM chips now aren't the market share/development dead end it was in the early days (strictly gaming wise, mobile devices and all that).A few developers have made efforts over the years, but it's been scattershot to say the least.I remember bungie with marathon before halo was a thing, and some games like wow?I honestly don't mess with apple much these days and no idea if it's gaming titles are backwards compatible with the different mac architectures over the years.If apple will cater to that market with their hardware/software and support other platforms going forward though, that's an entirely different matter.With that said, regarding something you mentioned above, gaming via VMs is.. painful to say the least performance-wise.Did a little digging and you may want to read up on this and keep an eye on it in case apple decides to give it some support in the future (or if you just want to mess about and sideload linux)*If* they do get the hardware working properly and natively in the near future, the wine/proton option via linux would be better than nothing, at least better than running things in a VM.https://www.corellium.com/blog/linux-m1

No. Keyboard and mouse will not be supported for consoles upon release.

@Fringerunner , it could actually be fun to hear from @KnightRa1der if he could get a virtual windows machine loaded up on his Mac and then hear about the BF2042 performance in that environment! 😀👍
Though I agree with you, that I would not expect it to do that well, except if @KnightRa1der has one of the absolute top-end Mac rigs setup for his supreme pleasure? 😎

@KnightRa1der I've often wondered too, but guess it is just market return, though I'd always imagined the market share of Mac users to not be too shoddy. Less than I imagined it seems.
But, probably more of a return than building a version for gamers who want an offline version of BF2042 though 😉 (sorry @KnightRa1der ... ref to earlier threads)

Though the great success of the Apple iPhone have made 'quite many' people switch to also try out also the Mac as a personal computer, then MSFT Windows is still the global dominant by far.

@CyberDyme I knew MS were well in front but didn't appreciate by how far. Interesting decline (although slow) though. Wonder what the dip in OSX is about?

There is always Proton/WINE but we have no word on if EAC support will be enabled via these compatibility layers nor if EA/DICE will detect this as "modifying" the game in some way...
3 days til we know for sure since it seems like we're not going to get any answers on that.

@Its_Travis_199 I have to say that I have the new m1 mac and using crossover I can run battlefield 1 & 5 above 50 fps. And without crossover(if it ever become native to mac) I should get more fps because crossover is using some memory. So the specs really isn't the problem.

I wish Mac would be supported again. The last of the Battlefield series that had a Mac version was Battlefield 2142. It played great on my old iMac. Battlefield 2142 is still my favorite!

@KnightRa1der I used to run BootCamp on an IMac and played BF3 on it all the time. The problem is the Imacs cooling is garbage and gaming is super intensive. If I wanted to game for more than 30 minutes I’d burn my hand on the aluminum so put extra fans around it and sometimes even a freezer pack (I was a serious gamer lol). So I’m hoping you’re thinking of a desktop, and I’m sure you could run an emulator, just watch your heating. BootCamp did the job, it may still be around or there’s probably something similar or better out there. Good luck.
