- ElliotLH3 years agoHero+@IsBF2042EVENgood I don't think this would be likely as Battlefield 2042 is an online game, so a PSN/Xbox Live subscription would be needed for console.

Unfortunately, it's also not us that made the decision that a PS Plus, or Xbox Live, membership is required for Online Gameplay. It's something that the console makers themselves do.
- JOGAGATYA3 years agoSeasoned Ace@IsBF2042EVENgood Well… it’s worth it because you can play online. That is the point of it. That’s how online play happens on consoles. It costs Sony and Microsoft money to have servers up and running. Or whatever. They need to make money to exist and do research and provide services etc. I heard they don’t make much money on the consoles themselves. Some money from games, some money from services. That’s how they function. Can’t have everything for free.

@IsBF2042EVENgoodHard agree these kinds of things are dumb. You should ALWAYS be able to play your game offline in one way or another. If the user doesn't have an internet connection to the servers, the game should prompt them whether they want to just play offline with limited features. Game studios have been unfortunately letting this basic function go to the wayside over the years and it's really, really stupid. Especially in a future of climate disasters and internet service outages... I'd like to be able to play my game offline if necessary..
Totally agree. If your internet is down for whatever reason , it would be nice to be able to play some version of the game on your own.

It wouldn't be possible with 2042 unfortunately as everything requires connecting to a server, even when playing solo.

Just curious, but, why does it require being connected to the servers to play solo?
- ATFGunr3 years agoLegend@IsBF2042EVENgood Nobody can play 2042 offline, not even PC. Didn’t they do that with V as well? I forget. I think it’s ridiculous that we can’t play a round of solo at least. The save game could just upload your stats / info to EA later (might be hard, I have no clue)
