To be honest i don't think i will buy a game from EA again in the near future.
I was blinded by the Trailer and the All Progression (thinking that people playing Solo or Coop get's some love too) only to be slammed by the Bugs that takes ages to be fixed (like exiting the Vehicle only to discover that you can't aim Downsight anymore and need to Respawn) and the Limited Progression for the PvE People.
To those who enjoy a game like this, i hope you will have fun.
I'm not going to buy the next BF game until it's on sale. I'm also skeptical about the upcoming NFS, because I see the same problems coming. 2042 was a lesson for me.
I think a lot of people are blinded here because they don't want to acknowledge the truth or don't know any different. But seriously now. Every shooter on the market runs smoother (tick rate of the servers, hitreg,...). The content with each session is minimal. The problems are deeply rooted in the engine and who saw the last dev interview will also hear that between the lines. They talked about Houreglass not being the first map to be reworked because it's too big. They needed more than 3 months for Kalaidoskop, how long do they need for a 4 times bigger map. They also talked about an "asset count".
That exists in every game, but compared to BF V, BF 1, etc. the maps of 2042 are empty. They just added sandbags. The "new" bunkers (from BF4) are also empty. Tables, chairs, like in BF1 and BF V are missing in the wonhouses on Houreglass. That already speaks for the fact that they were omitted, because of the asset count.
I still remember how the first in the Early Access week said that is still an old version and in the release week comes the final version. Exactly the same, if not more can be blinded again, as they manage to release 1 map 1 specialist and 2 weapons after 3 months. "It will be better in the next Battlefield". I think not.
Squad management, points for conquering, server browser, etc are missing even after almost a year.
And these circumstances are enough for you to keep buying games for 80$? Don't get ripped off.
- RMEChief3 years agoLegend@ProDeMatrix Yeah the asset count thing was eye opening, but it was also because of poor map management. Do you know how many assets were used in the car tunnel in Kaleidoscope for that part of the map to get less than 0.0001% of use? Just seal that off and use those assets elsewhere. They also used a ton of assets because of the map sizes, yet the entire map is only used in C128. So there are a ton of wasted assets in pretty much every other mode.
Decisions like that, which are core to the game make it an easy decision that I won't be buying another game from EA or DICE. The same crew for 2042 are the ones working on the next title.
