XP, or not XP. That is the question.

Do you only play on servers that give you full XP, ribbons and weekly missions? Are you getting bored of the same old things? or are you up for trying something different that will only give you restricted XP but give you a different mindset of gameplay?

I made a version of Capture the flag that needs players, the AI refuse to play it properly.

Gameplay: Both teams have Mcoms to arm with 5 second fuse. Once armed you have the flag and have to stay alive to drain enemy reinforcements. There's 4 Mcoms per team that will appear in different locations 30 seconds after last one is blown. 7 maps, PvP AI. 32 players.

Experience code ABBEBB

  • Lol. Half hour after posting this JackNONreacher hosted this but had changed the name to Catch the flag with a twist?? so there's another version out there if he has persistant servers on.

  • @turtlebeached from what we saw with Portal at the beginning of 2042 when DICE later severely restricted or removed XP from Portal players typically want to have their time and effort respected and generally play mostly on full XP servers. I can't blame them when ranking up their battlepasses is an important part of the gameplay loop in a "live service" Battlefield title.

Beat me to it. Unfortunately, I have 0 desire to play on a server that doesn't give progress toward mastery/unlocks/xp/battlepass. If there weren't time limits for the battlepass and such then _maybe_ I'd consider it, but ultimately, I have limited time to spend playing games, and if I want to play BF to move forward, running around and fighting against zombies with maybe 2 other people on an often very laggy server or whatever isn't in the cards.

I try new things all the time, just that I like to try new things that don't negate an existing benefit. Blame DICE for removing any real progression on non-official portal modes. I have plenty of backlog and a library of games to try something new that doesn't feel like getting punished for not playing the way that DICE wants you to play.

Personally don't need any XP or progression to enjoy any game. It's the advantage of being a gamer from the 80's & 90's. 🙂

I'm edging on 40, hardly consider myself a "young un" just that I choose to not play 2042 if it isn't going to keep track of the stats from a match. Grew up playing Quake/Team Fortress Classic competitively)/CS on PC in the late 90s and early 2000s, and NES/SNES/Gensis/N64/etc in the late 80s through the 90s. And played almost every BF game starting with 1942. I got to level 100 on the BP a few weeks ago and haven't touched 2042 since... because the game isn't great/still frustrating at times. And, as mentioned, I have a huge backlog library of in-progress games to complete instead of playing a game that isn't excellent.

The only thing that is missing from this game to enjoy it more is: more maps. And of course a proper map rotation at least. I play BF for the game itself. The way i interact and play together with friends i enjoy. I can't play single player games because i do not enjoy a game that has a predetermined path i have to follow. That's why i loved the huge maps in this game. The freedom. Eventually i would love a huge BF game with a map size of red dead2. You could go around the map, travel, plan an attack and then try to take back a city with a good fight with friends etc. But i do not need progression or XP or any skins. Or a predetermined path.
