Do I really have to choose? ....I hate them all.
I hate the concept of hero characters and the more silly special abilities. I would much rather have more generic looking soldiers like we had with the classes of old with abilities that made at least a little more sense.
Personally, my ideal setup would be the classes with the ability for players to customize their faces and gear. .....hair, color, gender, face, camo, kit, etc. EA / DICE could still make a ton of money on outfits, new camos, special gear and so on. This allows players to create avatars that are more an extension of themselves. They can feel more immersed in the experience with characters that are more representative of themselves. ....more unique than a bunch of clones running around.
Personalization is a huge deal in games today and I think EA / DICE is missing out on a big opportunity by forcing players to choose predefined characters they may not feel a connection with for various reasons.

Honestly the abilities aren't too bad for the most part. If they had just made them class restricted gadgets instead of locking them to cringy hero characters many of them would probably be getting praised as innovative new options in the gadget categories
- 4 years ago@TheCompton73 This pretty much.
Their abilities dont bother me and at times they add something new to the battle. Of course now, they nerfing stuff was fun to do like C5 on a drone.I loved doing that and it felt very satisfying to do so. 😉
I said this before, the general idea isn't bad. Its the implementation and design that killed 2042. Visually they have nothing to do with the 2042 story line. Mackay looks like out of team fortress and one liners are beyond cringe.
Had these characters been bad * looking soldiers i think a lot less people would have complaint. And that goes back to the entire design of the game. It feels like a kids version of BF. Its war but heh its all fun and good times.
Why in gods name can't a good OG style BF exist and a warzone like title separate? Call it BF: Hazard Zone and make it all BR you want to. But keep them separated. That way the BF fans get what they crave and new people could try the free to play Hazard Zone. Its such a no brainer and really tells you volume of the chaos that musta been development. - 4 years ago

Honestly, I don't like them.Tech / gadgets were never an aspect I liked in my shooters but in some of the past BF titles it was tolerable. ....but the wingsuit, the Just Cause grapping hook, cyber hacking tools, smart grenades, target revealing devices and so on are just too much for my taste. I'm just not a fan of gadgets especially when they become this involved in the gameplay. ....but that's just me.
That may have been a different story had EA /DICE included a hardcore mode that limited that sort of stuff but they didn't. As it is my only interest in BF2042 is Portal where I can eliminate all of that *stuff*. ....but honestly, I have been creating more Experiences based on the legacy assets than I have with the 2042 ones.
