Alternate controller mapping on console disables the ability to swap ammo types

What happens when the bug occurs? I can't use different ammo options
What should be happening instead? I should be able to switch to different ammo types

On console using the alternative button mapping (the one that swaps melee to circle on PS controllers, B on xbox controllers, and uses the stick click R3 to crouch) if you try to swap your ammo by holding L1 and hitting circle... it just melee's the air and doesn't swap anything.

So unlike people using a different control scheme I have to commit suicide to change my ammo type.
