ASUS Motherboards & BF 2042 Crashing or Other Problems

Public service announcement -If you are having trouble with BF 2042 or other EA games and you have an ASUS motherboard, check to see if you have ASUS Armoury Crate installed.&nbsp;This program does not play nice with either BF 2042, Easy anti-cheat or EA Desktop app (not sure which)&nbsp;My son and I had problems all weekend with DX errors, CTD, and general inability to play BF 2042.We tried everything else listed on every troubleshooting thread including wiping his machine and starting from scratch. Of course Armoury Crate was installed first to install the latest motherboard drivers.It was not until I read both of our DXdiag reports and realized armoury crate was a common issue with both our machines. We uninstalled it and the game runs flawlessly, with considerably high FPS to boot!If you try this, there is an uninstaller you need to download from ASUS' website to get rid of everything - it has tenacles everywhere in your system.&nbsp;Good luck and I hope this helps someone.

All good. Thank you.&nbsp;I spent hours banging my head against a desk trying to figure out what was causing our problems. The funny part was how we completely formatted and reinstalled Windows on one machine but still installed Armoury Crate to get all the necessary MB drivers and THAT was the problem. Very frustrating!I see some people submitting problems like we had that have ASUS boards, I hope this information helps them out so they can play.

And yeah, since it needs its own uninstall tool, certainly can connect the dots as to how widespread the Armoury Crate 'tentacles' are in my system
