I think the game is switching the audio, but I don't know how it's doing it. I was listening to music and it sounds fine the second battlefield loads it's muffled, when I close the game it goes back to normal. I'm currently using headphones
Fixed the issue by disabling handsfree telephony.

EA Staff (Retired)I'm having a similar issue with B&O H4 headphones. Voice in menu is perfectly clear, while music fades in and out.
When same headphones are connected via wire, all is good, so it's something with the bluetooth.
Same problem in SWBF2 incidentally.

@MalcolmGraves Try turning the mic off on your bluetooth headset. That fixed it for me. Unfortunately, I can't use that mic for VOIP now.
Before, I was able to play music fine (in Groove), just like you. However, while playing music, I went into the Recording tab of the window shown below and all of a sudden, I was getting that muffled sound.
Once I disabled the headset mic (first one in the screenshot), music sounded normal. I then loaded BF2042 and everything was good there too.
