Auto-throw not working

Product: Battlefield 2042
Platform:Xbox Series X

Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Game Menu
In which game menu were you when the bug occurred? Settings > Controller > On Foot
Please select your region North America
On which server did this happen?
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) Issue noticed 28.02.23 05:33 UTC -6
Summarize your bug " Auto-throw grenades and throwing knives" is turned on, but grenades and throwing knives knives do not quick-throw when equipped.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Turn on "auto-throw grenades and throwing knives" and pull out your throwable of choice
What happens when the bug occurs? throwable is equipped but not thrown
What should be happening instead? throwable should be getting thrown immediately after being equipped without additional inputs

    I had actually done that just prior to recording, though I had only turned it back on a few days prior after noticing that either the 4.1.0 or 4.1.1 update had turned had tuned it off.

    The issue does now appear to be resolved after 4.2.0, though the description text still reads as it not being compatible with controllers.  Glad to see the new way it works too.

    Summarize your bug Since the new 4.2.0 update downloaded, the auto-throw grenades option stopped working. It should throw the grenade when i press L1 button, but now i have to press L1 first and then i have to press firing button (R2) to throw the grenade...

    Hey @luuska420,

    Have you tried to switch the auto-throw option off and on again in the in-game settings, to see if that fixes it?

    Alternatively, could you please try to restore all the settings (on that tab) to default and try to re-enable the auto-throw function again?

    @EA_Leeuw It clearly says in the settings screen that this function does NOT work when using a controller.

    So basically, this feature/ setting is absolutely useless for console players.

    @EA_Leeuw Which begs the question, why the hell did they even include this setting change to console games???

    PC games, for example, have the audio ducking setting. This applies to the PC version.
    This audio ducking setting is not in the setting screens on console, because it’s not available to console players.

    So why is this auto grenade throw in the settings of the console version when we can’t use this setting??

    Also, what exactly did they change with the X6 scope. Because I see no change whatsoever.

    @EA_Leeuw I retract my previous post..
    I’ve just tested this again on PS5.
    Auto throw DOES work on PS5.

    Turn this setting to ON, press grenade button and your soldier will throw grenade without the need to press the fire button.

    So, what remains that IS misleading, is the explanation against the auto throw setting that states that this feature is NOT available when using a controller.

    It IS available.
    Dice might want to rephrase their explanation

    @EA_Leeuw Yea, i got it working. Something was changed in the options and thats why it didnt work.
    Another question, why was exodus conquest removed? Way better that this 128 players conquest... Too many players, too big maps for my opinion... Kind of unplayable right now...

    @Calhoun0I totally agree with the squad size thing in 128 conquest, would be much better!
    I'm wondering who even wants to play Discarded 24/7... I'd rather play 64 conquest with old bf maps.. I'm tired of running hundred kilometers per match just to get to the flags .
