Battlefield 2042 crashes after 9.2.0 update – Access Violation in BF2042.exe
Platform:
PC – Steam
System Specs:
GPU: GeForce RTX 4060
Driver: NVIDIA 577.00 (clean install via DDU)
CPU: Ryzen 5600X
RAM: 32GB Patriot ddr4
OS: Windows 10 Pro
Issue:
After updating to 9.2.0, the game consistently crashes after 10–60 minutes of gameplay.
The crash happens without overlays (Discord, Steam, EA App, GeForce Experience all disabled). Drivers have been rolled back and tested. Fresh reinstall of BF2042 + EA Anti-Cheat has been attempted. Issue persists.
Crash Dump Analysis:
From CrashDump.mdmp file: Failure.Exception.Code: 0xc0000005 (Access violation) Failure.ProblemClass.Primary: INVALID_POINTER_READ MODULE_NAME: BF2042.exe SYMBOL_NAME: BF2042!GetDenuvoTimeTicketRequest
The exception occurs inside BF2042.exe, specifically within
GetDenuvoTimeTicketRequest → strongly suggesting a problem with Denuvo anti-tamper / EA Anti-Cheat routines introduced with 9.2.0 patch.
Steps already tried:
Rolled back NVIDIA drivers to 577.00 (stable)
Performed clean install with DDU
Disabled all overlays (Steam, Discord, GeForce Experience, EA App)
Verified/Repair game files
Reinstalled Battlefield 2042 completely (including cleaning Documents\Battlefield 2042 and AppData folders)
Reinstalled EA Anti-Cheat (EAAC)
Game crashes with access violation in BF2042.exe (Denuvo/EAAC code path).
Request:
Please investigate as this appears to be a new regression introduced in 9.2.0 update.
