Battlefield 2042 crashing due to Directx Function

So I just installed my new RT 6900 XT because I was having problems with the game on my 2070 super, but the problem is so much worse. Because now the game crashes either in the menus or in the beginning of the match when im loading in... making the game now unplayable. Ive tried several other games and have absolutely no problems. So I dont know what to do anymore....

When I load the game it either crashes right in the menus or when the screen is moving down to the map on the first spawn in sequence. It wasnt so bad at first and I was able to play for like 10-20 minutes before crashing, but after the day went on it got worse. So ive done the list below...

Things ive done:

-uninstalled and reinstalled drivers 2x

-uninstalled and reinstalled the game

-updated windows

-enabled Dx12

-Verified files 3x

-turned it off and on again. enough times

-I even took this thing to best buy and had them clean my bios, boot drives, windows, and hardrives (deleted all the games and what nots)

By the time of posting this the game is now crashing at the menus just after the ship loading sequence is over

I dont know why I didnt take photos earlier this time but I have the two ive attached, hopefully one says its too large but I couldnt be bothered to trim it down...

  • I have tried everything you have done. My game never crashed since launch and now that I have upgraded my monitor to a 32" 1440p it is unplayable. Just another kick in the pants from EA and Dice. I have been a long standing BF fan and I will never buy another product that you guys make.

    Hello All,

Menus seem to be causing an undue load on your GPU likely causing a crash.

Go into your graphics utility and manually cap the framerate to your native monitor refresh rate.

This should keep the Menu from drawing a bazillion frames and crashing your graphics driver.

  • I've started having this problem recently aswell. Like 1 month ago I didn't have this issue at all and now all of a sudden I crash half way through a game or the next game. I haven't touched my settings and haven't changed any of my PC parts. I have change nothing and all of a sudden now I can't play the game and I've really been wanting to play since the new update. All my other games run perfectly fine even if I run those games on some of the highest possible settings. I've even tried lowering my settings for Battlefield as low as I can and it still crashes often. Yes I have looked at all possible fixes and all I've been able to do is delay the crash for 1 or 2 extra matches

  • Hi all of you !

Ask yourself one question - does this happen in any other game you have ? If no - then its not directx 12, its not adrenalin, its not the graphics driver. No need to mess with windows, registry and what else. It all boils down to one single point of origin - the developers - Dice ! Sorry to say this but something have backfired here. If its managers that pushes too hard for results / money earnings or what or just lack of coding skills no clue. Take Doom - runs butter smooth. Control just as perfect. Old BF3 and 4 also fine. The 2 starwars battlefront - also perfect. BF1 and BF5 had issues with dx 12 but other than that fine. Perhaps EA should re-hire the old Dice team and get rid of all those Call of Duty developers and Call of duty manager. Otherwise this game is a dead duck !
