Battlefield 2042 DirectX crash FIX

Now I am uncertain of this fix working for other GPUs but i personally know it works with the 6900xt gpu. (@Heroxoot told me of this fix )

Go to your GPU software (AMD Radeon Software, Geforce Nvidia)

Go to Battlefield 2042 and tune the performance

Go to GPU max frequency and turn it down in increments of 5% until it stops crashing

So far this has fixed my problem, now obviously you will notice a performace drop because you are only using 70ish% of the graphics card (but only for this game and others you set this to do) Sometimes you might have to go back in and turn it back down to the % it stopped crashing but

Current Specs:

Red Devil AMD Radeon RT 6900 xt

AMD Ryzen 3950x 16-core

Asus TUF Gaming X570-plus

128/GB ram

Windows 10

4 terabytes total SSD/M.2

With the max frequency being turned down to 70%, I play battlefield 2042 at 4k with medium to high graphics settings, with an average of 67.5 fps thoughout 7 hours of game play with the fix applied, and the amd software says its at optimal performance grade, though it could be excellent once optimized.

I DID NOT FIND THIS FIX!!! @Heroxoot  told me of it (idk if he/she/they found it), I do not know of this fix working for other cards so dont hate me lol. Im just trying to make sure people know of the fix.

  • you shouldn't have to lower anything to play this game....you paid for the components something on their end is screwing you over...just like many of us.

  • This has also helped me.

I'm glad that i can at least now PLAY the game I've paid for. - Though having to substantially gimp my GPU to do it is a shidful experience. ..Thanks EA.

    RX 6800 XT gimped to 1700Mhz (75%)

  • Thank you very much for your contribution, now at least I can play with my RX 6900 XT at 70%. Before, it would take me out of all the games and it would give me DirectX12 failure.

  • @EA_Atic The game that EA has released and how poorly optimized it is is a real shame. They should take more care of the community and give them quality products. After all, without us you would be nobody.
