@sickpuppie187 No I never did find a solution still get the same DirectX error every time I try to play. Many people have reported this issue and its been a thing since launch. I had this issue a few updates back and it recently came back with season 2.
Normaly for this DirectX error you can edit regedit entry \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography MachineGuid to d1eb246e-6243-4460-a88e-5d4e52b1ef6b and restart PC
But for any reasons after Patch 2.0.1 its not working for me anymore....
I have a high end PC and no problems with other games except BF2042....
Before Patch 2.0.1 I could play BF2042 but after I am not able to start the game cause of DirectX error (they cant get the newest Nvidia Driver)

maybe this can help, no guarantee if it works, but worth to try.
Certain games require a high resolution to work, and thus changing the screen resolution might do the trick for youIn windows goto:
Select Start > Settings > System > Display.
Change the resolution to 1080p if you have a 1440p monitor.
