Battlefield 2042 Imediately Refunded

I wanted to buy Battlefield 2042 because I got to play it for a little bit, and I had a lot of fun. So imagine my surprise when I actually buy it and I get a message telling me to do something that no other game I have ever seen in my life is asking me to do. My PC does not support Secure Boot, and even if it did, I should not have to go through the trouble to play Battlefield 2042 of all things.

The Darwin Award of the year goes to EA

Honestly, it's not something difficult to do, in fact it's quite simple, but I understand it perfectly. I like EA's commitment to cracking down on cheaters , but I honestly think it's time to use AI as Anti-Cheat. It is the only solution to put an end to Cheaters once and for all without having to invade personal data at the Kernel level. But if you can tell me why you can't activate Secure Boot, maybe I can help you. Is the problem with the PC that is unable to do it or is it you who doesn't know how to do it?

Hi FPSwarfare, have you actually tried going through the steps to enable Secure Boot?

I can confirm your motherboard supports secure boot.
In page 75 of the manual for your machine, you can see the steps to enable it: https://download.asrock.com/Manual/B360M%20Pro4.pdf

This is a small change to improve your machine's personal security. Secure Boot wasn't developed as an anti-cheat setting; it's designed for personal user security as well.

MurdeRak I can't find any recent logins to Battlefield from your account, but I think I still found your user information.

If accurate, you're using a Z97X-Gaming motherboard from Gigabyte, which supports Secure Boot. You need to make sure that Secure Boot is enabled in the BIOS first, this is available to you.

    https://download1.gigabyte.com/Files/Manual/mb_manual_ga-z97x-gaming5_e.pdf

On page 51, you can see a picture of the BIOS.

Under "Windows 8 Settings" change it from Other OS to Windows, Boot Mode to UEFI Only, and that should set it.  You can confirm this in Windows, please follow our help guide here: http://go.ea.com/SecureBoot. A video is available as well, if it helps.

  • With Win10 losing support and 11 requiring it, you're gonna start having some amount of pressure to do it not just for 2042, but other games and quite literally your OS.

It really only takes a few minutes and it likely is asking because you can do it as pointed out by the EA lad. One thing to note is on my brother's PC we had to go into the OS after a few changes, then restart into BIOS a second time to properly get Secure Boot activated. It's a bit weird but once you do that you're home free and legit nothing changes for you in how you use the computer.

Tape "Secure Boot" on the search 🔎 main Menu Bios .

I have a small community of battlefield players who are already of a certain age "Mostly Veterans" and many of them didn't know how to enable Secure Boot, So I help them with a video call through WatsApp and they followed the steps I told them, Even with all the different motherboards of each one there is one thing that is common to all and that is the "Search" in the BIOS start menu, If you type "Secure Boot" in the BIOS you will go directly there without having to search through the entire BIOS. I don't know if all BIOS have this option, but in our community more than 200 people who did the update had this option and I can guarantee that 9% of them did it this way.

However, the most common mistake made by users who activate Secure Boot for the first time is forgetting to Save before closing the BIOS and restarting the PC.The PC will have Secure Boot disabled again when restarting next time if it is not saved.

Worth noting sometimes you gotta go into windows then restart for secure boot to fully take effect. Had that happen with my brother it was weird but the gigabyte uefi said thats what the deal was to get it goin.
