Battlefield 2042 screen goes to black before loading into match, then into lobby

At this point I give up, I had this game for I don't know how long but it was only playable in the first 2 months. Every time I get into a matchmaking and find a match, the screen goes to black then I'm right back into the lobby. I have tried EVERYTHIING, videos , forms, reddit pages, changing DNS, restarting, Deleting and reinstalling the game/ and EA and Steam. Updated everything. Still I can't get into a single match. I contacted support in April, they told me to restart the PC. When I did that I couldn't get reconnect to EA support and they closed the case. Even now I tried to get in touch with EA support but every time I go to open a case, either I get an error message or I get sent to the home page of the EA support website. I truly want a refund at this point, I am sick and tired of coming home from work and being disappointed every time.

  • I believe your issue is slightly different than what I was mostly experiencing(Player disconnect timeout everytime i tried to load into a game) but try this anyway and see if it helps anything.

    I did 2 things and it seems to have fixed my issues.

    See 2 steps typed below and the attached screenshot for guidance.

    1.)

    Try going into Nvidia Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> Program Settings -> Select Bf2042 or add it if it isn't there already.

    In the same screen after selecting BF2042 scroll down the features and find "Power management mode" and set it to "Prefer maximum performance"

    Also under the features find "Low Latency" and set to "On" Or "Ultra"

    2.)

    I know you said you already tried changing DNS, but may be worth noting I did also set my DNS servers to cloudfare servers(1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1) although I'm more convinced the Nvidia settings had more to do with it.

    I realize what helped me may not help you, but this seems common with nvidia cards from what I've read of people reporting hardware wise and I believe it's something to do with the game not communicating with the video card during the load screen and freezing(judging by fps overlay), and the power management/low latency options may help.

    For me, this solved my issues and the game no longer seems to freeze on the loading screen of a match and allows me into the game.

    Hello, I've done everything network wise. Restarting the router and restarting my network settings. I've changed the DNS as well and still nothing. I don't use a VPN and I play in North America West. Also to answer Syst3m, yes my GPU is a NVidia Geforce RTX 3060

  • Hey, so I changed the Latency in the control panel and that seems to have fixed it. Thank you !!!!!

    @KroKown Good to read.
    Explain please in more detail what ya did so other users can use it for their troubleshoot.

    Thanks - Game On !

  • Same - every time I get into a matchmaking and find a match, the screen goes to black then I'm right back into the lobby. This seems unfixable? The low latency setting hasn't changes anything for me. I cannot even launch a single player game it does he same for any game. How is this even possible for a triple AAA studio?

    @Jacerator Did you also try to change "Power management mode" and set it to "Prefer maximum performance"? Please reference my above post and screenshot.
