There’s a serious bug with the in-game chat in Battlefield 2042. Sometimes it just stops working and I can’t type anything at all. This really hurts the gameplay experience, especially when trying to coordinate with teammates.Many players have encountered the same bug as me, and verifying game integrity on Steam doesn’t fix it.
EA, please fix this issue as soon as possible. Communication is a core part of the game, and right now it’s broken.

I have played over 1,500 hours in BF2042 and have never encountered such an unbelievable bug. It's truly outrageous that you still haven't fixed this critical bug.

This is a known BF2042 chat bug that seems to happen randomly mid-session. A temporary workaround is restarting the match or toggling chat settings off and back on, but there’s no permanent fix yet. Best thing to do is report it on EA Answers HQ so it stays visible to the dev team.

This isn't that. The entire chat function regardless of setting and troubleshooting it broken. It's not UI error, it's not a setting error, it's not a user error. It's 100% EA, and their adamant ability to not do anything.
correct. seems to be happening to everyone and not individuals. unless the error also causes those who cant send to also not see any chat activity going on. though i doubt that. all research ive done points to a global issue with the services used to execute the processes, whatever that is. ive also learned that 2042 is officially in a "maintenance mode" for devs and time frames for a response to a widespread error are no less than 3-4 weeks and 5-6 weeks for less widespread errors. frustratingly ive seen many errors get marked as "solved" when all a mod did was send a "unplug and plug it back in" type of response, as if we didnt already try everything possible in the time waiting for action to be taken.
Right now the entire chat system is completely unusable. I can’t believe the efficiency of a world-class gaming giant like EA could be this low—it’s outrageous. EA, you truly make me feel disgusted.
