BF2042 activation?

I bought Battlefield 2042 on Steam but when I try to launch it I get an EA pop up asking me to activate the game.

I spoke to someone on the EA Support Chat and they were incredibly unhelpful. They told me to go to System Config, disable all services and then disable all start up programs. I tried this, it did not work and they told me to go to the forums. Can anybody help me with this? I would just like to play the game I purchased.

    Hi @Hogg4_40,

I'm sorry to hear you're unable to play BF2042.

I see that you mentioned you purchased the game through Steam, and now it is asking to activate the game on the EA app. Is that correct? Have you linked your Steam and EA accounts yet? If not, please do so by following the steps in this article: Linking your platform accounts to your EA Account

Let us know how it goes,

  • Maybe someone will still need this and I think i found the solution. Before asking me for activation the game wasn't turning on so I played a bit with admin permissions and after a bit I realised that this activatiion prompt only happened when either the bf 2042 or anti cheat launcher were set to run as admin and the EA app was not. Thue game still doesn't turn on, but at least this little problem was solved for me.
Okay, today I also changed nvidia drivers from game ready to studio and that also caused a problem, so try changing them if the problem still persists.

TL;DR: try making sure every app involed in opening the game (bf 2042; anti cheat; EA app) are on the same admin level (either all are run as adimn or none of them) and that you have nvidia game ready drivers installed
