BF2042 doesn't launch...
The game doesn't even launch anymore. If i click to open the game, it starts to launch it normally but in less than 5 seconds it just closes itself before it can even launch correctly. No error messa...
I'm running Windows 11 and had an update a few days ago... Wanted to play BF2042 today but it doesn't work. Just black screen and instant crash without error message.
The game was working completely normal like a week ago.
No, i'm using Windows Defender.
@EA_Leeuw
I've been on W11 and played BF successfully on it in 2021. Users should not have to roll back to a previous OS to get the game to work. According to steam, nearly 20% of users are on W11... so 1 out of 5 players can't play after this update? Yikes.
Can you confirm that this is an actual issue that EA is actively working on? Between the state of the game upon release and now it not working, period, I really want a refund. I paid $80 to play a beta upon release and now, I can't play at all. ☹️
Hey @DiscoStu420,
According to the system requirement of Battlefield 2042 (Origin, Steam), it's a Windows 10-only game. It's not mentioned that it's officially supported on Windows 10 and above, so Windows 11 (and higher) in this case. Therefore it's possible that you're experiencing more issues while playing on Windows 11, than if you would play on Windows 10.
As I mentioned in one of my previous posts, it looks to be the case that Microsoft has released a Windows 11 update around the same time as the Season 1 update launched, that now has bricked the game for some players. Unfortunately, this is not something that can be solved with the snap of a finger, but this requires further investigation and troubleshooting.
For example, for some players, it was Trend Micro antivirus that didn't work well with a particular Windows 11 update, which resulted in Battlefield 2042 being blocked and unable to launch. Trend Micro has since released a patch from their side which should solve this issue, another workaround was to make an exclusion in the AV-suite for Battlefield 2042.
