BF2042 Freezes/Closes after 2-5 min

Specs:
Windows 11 (Not updated due to SSD corruption reports)
Steam platform
ROG B660G (updated bios)
RTX 4080
2X32 DDR5 6000MHZ
i7 13700K
2.5K Ultrawide monitor and 2 1080p 16:9 monitors

I have played this game normally for 60 hours and suddenly my game started booting a black screen only until I allowed it to go through private connections on the firewall.
Now it loads normally and after 2-5 minutes in-game or not. The game closes or freezes needing to end the task to fully close.

I tried:

Rollback to 577 nvidea driver
Update to newest driver
Verify integrity of files
Disabling/enabling  discord, gamebar, EA, steam and nvidea overlays
Underclocking GPU -300/-500 MHZ
Disabling XMP
Disabling hyperthreading
Disabling the firewall (caused my pc to bluescreen when it crashes, can be unrelated)
TdrDelay to 10
Uninstalling old Gameinput services
Reinstalling/repairing EAanticheat
Fresh new install 2x
Deleting BF2042 folder on the Documents
Updating my monitor firmware
Starting the game with administrator/compatibility stuff
Booting with -dx11 on steam
Scanning corrupted windows files
Cleaning RAM cache
Setting NVIDEA shader cache to unlimited
Playing on the 1080p monitor
Playing with Windows Power mode set to efficient
Allowing and disabling Windows Exploit protections for BF2042
Enabling/Disabling VSYNC/ DLSS
Playing on low graphics

I do not know what to do anymore...

  • Hey,  I've been trying everything for the past 5 days nothing fixed.

    I found this
Go Windows Security> App & Browser control > Exploit protection settings > Program Settings > Add battlefield 2042 >  Check every override system setting box and turn every switch off. Restart

    Hope this helps somebody.

Made it crash again just for you :)
This is the only error related to the game, sometimes I get exit code 0x1 instead.

I now also tried disabling Hardware-accelerated GPU on windows graphics settings.
Played games like Cyberpunk 2077 and MSFS24 and all ran smoothly.
    Thank you.

I need help too please with bf2042. My cpu and gpu and frames all crash and it causes my game to lag

  • Hi RankOneRodrix

Can look at your windows event log and tell if you see an error after launching your game.To open it just tap "event" in the Windows search bar and open it. Go in "Windows logs" > "Application". If you see an error, send me a screenshot of it.

    Let me know 😁
