BF2042 low GPU usage

check out what your cpu and gpu are doing? I'm willing to bet your cpu is in the red, I think this means the cpu isn't allowing to push enough information to the gpu
if it's in red, maybe try give your cpu a boost but make sure you have enough cooling. BF is pretty intense on the cpu, especially 128 player (it has alot of calculations to make), I don't think 3.6ghz is enough to push out a decent frame rate

If a CPU could not push enough information through then it would be capping @ 100%.
Speeding up the clock of the CPU makes it run faster but in no way does it increase the information capacity, which is
Instructions pers clock (IPC) or CPU cores which is a hardware attribute and its not something you can overclock to increase.
I suggest avoid CPU OC's as they can be tricky to get stable and take significant amount of time to confirm its stability...

If you have sufficient cooling maybe put your cpu up a bit and see if that helps, it will allow more information in the sense it will process it faster. Motherboards these days make it super easy and stable, most CPUs and boards are made for it. Look into it first, I'm not familiar with ryzen but but yes, it can potentially do harm.
Your gpu should be pushing out good frames, at least on low, just i think your cpu isn't up to speed. It was the same for me.
- @eiluaq Cooling is perfectly fine. Paste is new, airflow is good, so that shouldnt be the case.
- @The_Tibber Overclocking wont give you a night and day difference, maybe a few frames if you are lucky, talking really low single digit numbers to the point its not worth it.
The 3600 is a good CPU but its not this game is so heavy on the CPU that its just crippling.
I went from a 8086k @ 5ghz (6c/12t) to a 12900k (16c/24t) and it was a night and day difference (single core is insane, so is the multi core). Would I suggest buying a new mobo and CPU for this game? No, but it would certainly help.
tl;dr, game is heavy on CPU, 6c/12t with AMD chips are not great with it. Overclocking will give you no actual noticeably impact.Well yeah, thats what im saying.
