BSOD (Blue Screen of Death) after latest update

Specs:

  • Windows 11
  • 4070 12GB
  • i7-13700F
  • 16GB RAM @ 5600 (though limited to 4400)
  • 1TB SSD, but game is on a 3TB HDD
  • All game settings are ran at the lowest, 1080p, system temps are perfectly fine (GPU is 70° max, CPU is 50° max according to HWinfo)
  • No overclocks or underclocks

-

Issue:

Since the latest update that was released on Tuesday, BF2042 causes my PC to blue screen when the game is closed (Alt+F4, closing the window with the X, closing the game from the main menu, or even exiting back to the main menu after a match)

-

This also happens when closing the game during the infinite "Satellite" loading screen bug that doesn't load up the main menu/connect to EA servers & just repeats the Satellite cutscene/loading animation until the game is closed & started a 2nd time - close the game in any way, instant BSOD and restarts my PC

-

This is the ONLY game this happens in, the ONLY program whatsoever that causes this; my PC is less than 1 month old so it isn't due to the Intel issues either, it's 100% a BF2042 software bug as it's only been happening since the update on Tuesday.

-

Troubleshooting done so far:

  • Updated BIOS to the latest version (Microcode 129 - Lenovo)
  • Intel Turbo Boost disabled in BIOS
  • Windows Defender setting disabled & then re-enabled (forgot the name of it, but saw it suggested when browsing the forum)
  • Repaired the game files
  • Ran sfc /scannow, everything is in good standing
  • Reinstalled NVidia drivers (clean install, 537.58)
  • BSOD dump file (multiple files analyzed) shows that "ntkrnlmp.exe" is the culprit of the BSOD each time - BSOD screen shows "hypervisor error" when it pops up each time (no virtual machine is being used)

For me the problem was ExpressVPN. I had to disable all of its services to be able to play BF2042 without crashing to Desktop or a BSOD. I believe the EA anti-cheat software is considering it cheating software even though I wasn't actively using a VPN when playing BF2042, and I am not sure how a VPN would help me cheat anyway.

Maybe you should check for similar Windows services on your computer and stop them; you might have to do it after every reboot if you don't disable the services.

Hopefully EA can fix their anti-cheat software to whitelist ExpressVPN and other affected applications.

Yea so I started getting full PC lockouts that requires a restart press because of this HYPER-V error , it started with EA anticheat crash to desktop after a few minutes ingame.

This game is more broken then at launch , i just don't understand anymore.
