Why is it taking the developers this long to undo what they did that caused high cpu usage? Why is this community having to learn how to edit files and drop them in installation folders to prevent their CPU's from melting? A hot patch/update could of been implemented within a few hours. This is obviously a wide spread problem. Sure, we can all figure a work around but at what cost? Are we losing performance, increasing input lag, causing damage to our hardware?
- ATCleeghoofd3 years agoRising Veteran@AOD_Mikezilla It takes way more than BF2042 to melt a CPU lol. . All CPUs and motherboards have build in protection features.... It however might distinct the quality components from the others ๐

@i_luv_strats made movie in englisch, so people do not got language issues !
howto make user, cfg and file location
if ya got an 8 core cpu then use about 4 a 5 cores for game, others are for system (WINDOWS)
ask if ya got questions ! test it with the ammount of cores, depends on cpu, some could use a higher number others need to lower that number !!!

I can't get any config to work with the EA launcher and file path. Origin file path was eliminated: C:\Program Files\EA Games\Battlefield 2042. Did they break it on purpose? I'm not new to this, just doesn't work...

@Fraginstein if ya did use origin before, then there is still an ORIGIN GAMES folder with BF2042 in it.
EA app should detect that folder and merge it into EA app !
Verify/repair game (bf20452) with EA app and try again,
Keep us up to date for support @Rokebo73I had the unique pleasure of my Windows drive scramming itself during the transition from Origin to EA launcher. Had to start over. No Origin folder. Gone. But anyway, the current ~95% CPU (I9-9900K) BF 2042 load (~5% background services) pushes my GPU (RTX 3080TI) to up to 99%, which works for me. Best performance ever! My cooling is more than adequate, well within parameters!
I'm having the opposite CPU issue. The CPU fps will bottom out and the frame times will shoot up into the hundreds of ms resulting in a massive stutter. At the same time, my GPU keeps chugging along without issue. I'm running an AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, 32GB of RAM, and a Radeon 6950XT GPU. I've tried every troubleshooting step I can find from just about every post short of reinstalling Windows 11 or disabling SMT in my BIOS. The User.cfg file is ignored so I have to enter console commands every time I start the game. I use Process Lasso but it can't change the CPU affinity or priority like it should be able to. I can't get any of the core limiting suggestions to work even if I enter the commands from the console. I tried reducing the mouse polling rate to 500mhz but that also did nothing. I did see a bunch of game input reconfiguration messages in the Event Viewer but the only things I had plugged in other than my Corsair mouse and audio devices is my Razer Tartarus Pro.
- L3TH4L1TY3 years agoRising Scout@AOD_Mikezilla I agree , Temps of CPU jump to 75c-80c withing minutes of starting the game, not even playing yet.. can we plz get a fix...
- Rokebo733 years agoSeasoned Ace@th3m4r1n3 need to check specs of your cpu, some are made to run in high temp values, 90c is not weird, depends on systems and cpu specs !!!
