    Fixed the issue on my end by right clicking on the game in the Steam library, going to Properties, the Controller tab, and selecting "Disable Steam Input" on the drop down settings.  Hope it works for you guys too, good luck!

    I’m having the same issue. 
    how I’m able to play with a controller still is

    open the controller configuration settings for your controller 
    Go to presets 

    switch it from game pad to key board and mouse. 

    then you’ll just have to do some minor key bindings and sensitivity adjustments and you should be good
