Crashing to desktop with Windows 11 24H2

Since updating to 24H2, Battlefield starts to load (shows splash screen) and after about 20 seconds disappears and I'm left back on the desktop.

  • I resolved this by running Windows Update to pick up some additional updates, updating my (NVIDIA) graphics drivers (with "clean installation" option checked and including the new version of PhysX), then rebooting my PC.

@lupin3rd67 ya could do a cleanboot , just to make sure any other software is causing issues.
But beaware that microsoft did stop rolling out windows 11 24h2, cause there are some driver/hardware/software issues that can couse freezes/bsod ect ect (unstable).

    Cheers
  • Ok.

I just wonder why i don't have the same problem with BF1 and BF5.

They are both running fine with 24h2 and, as far as i know,  they are using the same anti cheat as well as BF2024.

    P.s.:

Could you please explain to a boomer like me what is a clean boot?

    Thanks

@lupin3rd67 reboot pc by a clean boot:
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd
Hide all Microsoft services, DISABLE (uncheck) ALL other processes, apps and services !

I suggest doing a clean boot first to isolate and identify the application that is causing the issue.

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

    - In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.

    - On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.

    - On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.

    - Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.

    - Close Task Manager.

    - On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

Ps dont deactivate ea app background process and the EA AC process, else game will not launch at all.

    Update us
  • Seems to be ok.....i managed to play about one hour without any issue.

    Clean boot

    Thanks
