Wow...EA is seriously trying to hide the fact they f-ed up. Trying to confuse the issue and state you have a different problem...they are pulling out all the dirty tricks now to avoid blame.
Xbox series x. Canada. Same issue. With cross play off the game won't load no matter how long I wait. When the dec 8? 9? Patch 3.1? Came out I was able to turn cross play back ON on my console and OFF in my game menu for the 1st time. It worked great for a few hours that first night I was able to play conquest and portal rush with just xbox players. Then last night, Dec 10th, things went back to not being able to play with cross play turned off in game menu just like before when cross play was turned off on the console. More over, the option to turn off cross play in the in game menu has been greyed out again where I have to pop in and out of the game type mode and restart my game to sometimes allow the greyed out cross play option to be toggled off or on..but to no avail because if it's toggled to off, the game still won't load just like before.
How is it this could work for a few hours after the patch and now won't work at all??
I seriously think EA Dice does NOT was crossplay being turned off as they want to appease the PC community over console community by giving them easier kills due to cheats and advantages. Furthermore windows 10 is an app based operating system so the revenues would be higher, data mining better and easier to legally justify some of their illegal data mining practices that go beyond gaming on a PC vs console. Furthermore chip sales and consoles available to buy makes it harder to fill up servers with reduced numbers. Top it off with so much competition for 1st person shooters with COD and HALO and other titles all released at the same time, reduced profit margins means reduced staffing needs and server availability for the game. EA over reached AGAIN by making 2 different cross gen versions of the same game. They had the same problem when xbox one first came out.
So many issues here to unpack. But basically it comes down to the same things...maximizing profits, failing to do the job properly, and not really caring about their customers after the fact.
