Customized Keybinds Not Working

Product: Battlefield 2042
Platform:PC
Please specify your platform model. PC
AMD or Nvidia Model Number Nvidia RTX 3060 TI
Enter RAM memory size in GB 16
Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which part of the game is the issue happening in? Multiplayer
Which part of the mode? Breakthrough
Please select your region North America
On which server did this happen? N/A
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) 10.09.24 09:00
Summarize your bug I updated my game today and when I launched into the new Breakthrough game, all of my keybinds were reset. I heavily customize my binds as I don't prefer WASD for movement. This happened in the past and we were assured that it wouldn't happen again with future updates. I even tried to use my old trick to copy my old keybinds to the new PROFSAVE_Profile file and it's not working. After doing that, in the menus it shows the binds that I want (move forward with E) but in the game E doesn't work to move forward. You have to press W. DId the location for the save files change from the Documents\Battlefield 2042\settings path?
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Customize your keybinds heavily so movement uses EDSF instead of WSAD and other binds for enter/exit vehicle, gadgets, etc. Upgrade the game to the latest version released today (09.10.2024)
What happens when the bug occurs? All custom keybinds are reset or are not working
What should be happening instead? My custom keybinds should be working

  • I may have just solved some BF keybind stuff.

I just realized I had two Xbox controllers connected to my PC (both in USB ports for charging) and I was wondering if that may have contributed to the conflicts.

I unplugged them both and unplugged the wireless dongle and rebooted my PC. Now my EDSF movement keys are working. Problem is, now I have to set everything back again and see if that restores what I previously had set - not just movement

    Sigh.

  • I think the game is broken. I reset my binds to default for soldier movement and set them manually in the in-game menus and connected to a server. It's still hardcoded to WSAD for movement even though the menu settings show EDSF. Nothing customized seems to be honored.

I thought it was just the new game mode so I tried TDM and it's broken there, too.

  • I've deleted my entire C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\Battlefield 2042 folder and launched the game.  It created a new Battlefield 2042 and subfolder structure (but it also seemed to have also automatically created a "RESTORED" folder that I just created this morning inside of "settings"

How is it auto-creating this folder from scratch on a new profile?

Even so, I went to the Options and proceeded to manually change my player movement keys and it's still not working.

  • More discovered oddities.  If I ADS, EDSF works for movement.  LOL.

What are you people doing over there?
