BF2042 is the only game that gave me this problem as well and I have tried varies method and all fail. I tired from reinstalling the latest driver, reinstall the game, lowing the display resolution from highest to lowest and even switch off DLSS, Ray-tracing, etc. I am still getting this error message. Not sure if Dev team realize this issue or not.
I am going crazy whenever I am playing BF2042 cos i will keeping getting this error message during game, before game or even getting to the lobby.
My Spec:
Intel Core i7 8700K
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
ROG STRIX Z370-F
G.Skill DDR4 64GB
M.2 SSD

Yeah, its frustrating as hell. I did get 1 hour of playtime and had blast, which only frustrated me even more now.
What gave me that hour was underclocking mu GPU with about 50Mhz, so if you haven't tried that, do it.'ve also read that Corsairs program iCue can be a problem for some.

Bro, are you able to fix the issue? I am asking because i have fix mine but not sure if you are willing to use and try this method.
What I did was that I did a reset on my PC because I was guessing that there are too many registry on my computer due to time to time update.
If you are going to do it, remember to back up all the important file that you need to store before doing a pc reset.
Anyway it is coming to a new year so maybe consider it as PC cleaning.😃

Bro, my computer was bought a couple months ago and I reset it a few days before this post.
A possible fix was underclocking deluxe. In im playing at like 800mhz on my gpu. I've been able to play 2 games so far.
