reinstalled windows 10, while keeping apps and data and problem persists.
On Windows REGEDIT in registry tree "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Dnscache" in right panel exist one key name as "Start" that key needs to be value 2 if it as value 4 that it is your problem.
You must be able to pass that error "registration of dns records failed the rpc server is unavailable" with a correct or valid message, if the problem is not in PC it's your Router and you need to reset it...

so i think i got it solved now, and it was the stupidest thing ever. it turns out there was ANOTHER router up the chain in my network. once reset and rebooted. it seems to be working. i have played 2 rounds of 2042 in full so far.
i was about 5 minutes away from reinstalling a fresh copy of windows.
STyLO your a king man. thanks for all the help, i feel embarrassed that it was so simple of a fix and i wasted so much of your time
hopefully it stays working!
thanks again stylo!

Good to know, for almost one week I get the same frustration as you until I found the solution, hopefully it stays working for me too, happy to help.

welp problem came back within the day. did a full windows reinstall. slowly reinstalled, programs. Pretty sure i've nailed it down to my vpn. PIA (private internet access) that even when disabled, turned off etc still caused the problem. uninstalled it, problem seems to be gone. have only had 1 full round so far but will update if it reoccurs.
