EA Play Membership from EA Desktop to steam

Does EA Play Membership on EA Desktop (originally subscribed on Origin) apply for Battlefield 2042 purchased on steam?
I specifically refer to all monthly rewards for EA Play members.

  • @leodom2, yes, if you subscribe to EA Play on Steam, it should apply the discounts on your EA Steam titles.

    Hey @leodom2,

EA Play is unfortunately not cross-platform/cross-launcher. There is a separate EA Play for Steam.

Hi, thank you for the answer,
so when inside the game it says EA play membership applied, it's not actually the case!
If that's so, the only solution is to subscribe on steam and cancel on EA Desktop, even if that means that I will have to re-download from steam all the games of EA Play library  that I currently have on EA Desktop. I think that's not the way it should be, the subscription should be cross platform, IMHO it doesn't make much sense to consider it platform specific!

@leodom2, wait a second. So you have EA Play via the EA app, but you have bought (not claimed) BF2042 via Steam, and you see in-game (via your BF2042 Steam copy) that an EA Play discount is being applied to your purchases etc.? Is that correct?

Yes, I bought BF2042 directly on steam and in-game it says the discount is applied (see attached picture) , even if actually when when I bought some coins steam made me pay the full price.

@leodom2, thanks for the detailed info.

So it is indeed the case that it's (maybe unfortunately?) working as intended that if you have EA Play via the EA app, the discount does not carry over to EA games that have been bought via Steam, as there is a separate EA Play membership for Steam.

I have made the teams aware of the in-game error in BF2042, about that it does show that you have EA Play benefits for BF2042 x Steam, via EA Play for EA app.

So if there isn't any other possibility, I will cancel the EA Play on the EA App and subscribe it on steam.
Do you confirm that that is only solution?

(Anyway I hope that this limitation will be removed in the future)
