Thank you for your reply. Under normal circumstances I would be inclined to agree with you for a single ISP. But multiple ISPs exactly at the same time? It is quite a stretch.
Anyway, it is no big deal, if it does not work I will do something else, life goes on. That being said though, connectivity issues are the bane of people using EA in general. I would love (and the entire community I am certain) would love to hear from the developers why such issues happen and what they are doing to make the whole experience more robust.
I would like also to point out that my connection has come back eventually. Also when I was checking my internet speed I saw that EA servers were listed as having connectivity issues on Ookla. So it does sound like it was a widespread problem and the source of it seems to have been on the EA side. EA meanwhile did not mention any issues with their servers despite was third parties were detecting.

It is very common for multiple ISPs to use the same tech, same servers etc. and all that on the backend, especially if multiple ISPs are available to you in a specific region. They all go over the same line. Hence why I am not really surprised that you're experiencing the issue with multiple ISPs, but not with VPN while still being connected via the same ISPs.
Unfortunately, connectivity issues are an eyesore for all of us. Mainly because a small problem can have a million different causes, or even a combination of them.
All I can tell you is that we have no reported connection issues. If that were different, you also wouldn't be able to connect via a VPN either.
@EA_Leeuwonly device which is shared by ISP are street cabinets. They may use the same fibre line from the street cabinet to the ISP routers. From there on the ISP has to route the traffic on through its routers (not servers) to the AS of EAs ISP/hosting company aka AWS.

All your points are reasonable. TBH I did not understand either why I could connect through a VPN and not locally, it did not made sense to me unless there was some active blocking on the EA side depending on the geographical location or maybe the ISP. That also prompted me to make my post to try and understand.
I checked Ookla (speedtest.net) and they seem to be using downdetector.com to report outages. So at the time, downdetector was reporting problems with EA while on the EA side they thought that everything was fine. There is a disconnect here that should be sorted out. I believe downdetector is based on users reporting problems (I did not even report mine), so users were having problems while EA thought everything was fine.
If I have time, I will check if they have some historical data on the downdetector site for outages.
