Hi @EA_Leeuw ,
All your points are reasonable. TBH I did not understand either why I could connect through a VPN and not locally, it did not made sense to me unless there was some active blocking on the EA side depending on the geographical location or maybe the ISP. That also prompted me to make my post to try and understand.
I checked Ookla (speedtest.net) and they seem to be using downdetector.com to report outages. So at the time, downdetector was reporting problems with EA while on the EA side they thought that everything was fine. There is a disconnect here that should be sorted out. I believe downdetector is based on users reporting problems (I did not even report mine), so users were having problems while EA thought everything was fine.
If I have time, I will check if they have some historical data on the downdetector site for outages.
Youre isp could check if any "hop" has some issues /blocks / updates that causes those problems.
Sometimes ya need to reset all connection at home, modem/router/pc settings ect ect ect.
Reset settings at youre pc to see if it helps youre issue:
NETWORK RESET
Press Windows key + 'R' ,typ CMD, Press and hold down CTRL + SHIFT and press ENTER.
When User Account Control shows up, click Yes.
copy and paste the following commands by pressing enter at the end of each command line:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
netsh advfirewall reset
netsh winhttp reset proxy
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /flushdns
Now Shut down the PC.
Unplug power cables from PC and modem/router for about 1 minute (unplug power cables).
Plugin power cable from the router/modem and wait till it's back online.
Plugin power cable from the PC.
Boot your system
This will also reset youre firewall, so if ya boot bf2042 again, for example , a firewall popup will ask to grant acces again.
Cheers

Hi @Rokebo73 ,
A good summary of all the things you can do to try and solve connectivity problems (assuming it our side and not EA's).
If you want to see which hop has problems in your connection, you can also do a TRACERT on the IP address (or DNS name) of the server in CMD. It is good up to 30 hops.
Cheers

Here we go again...
Persistence data connection problem. Nothing has changed in my connection. EA can blame the users all it wants, this instability simply does not make any sense.
Oh well, life goes on.

Nothing new from EA. They just don't care about making their games actually playable. All they care about is getting our money. But that will change for future EA games since a lot of people (myself included) will never buy anything from EA again
