Game fails to launch if you have Webroot installed, uninstalling it makes it so you can play the game, but you run the risk of not having an antivirus on your pc, I personally dont suggest uninstalling it. Have talked to customer service about it, and they know that it is an issue, they are looking into it.

  • I had the same issue and also use Webroot. I went so far as to reset my PC and reinstall Windows. But I was still getting the error even though Webroot was not installed after the reset. But I did have a Webroot Chrome extension installed and there were a few Webroot services running in msc.services still. I removed all traces of Webroot including the extension and now I can play BF 2042 again.

  • Another patch anopther time I have spent hours to make this game to run,

I Have this issue and I DO NOT have webroot installed, any help?

I can believe how you destroyed a franchise like Battlefield, just by trying to first making a Battle-Royale abort then trying to mend it.

I had a friend that also had the issue but did not use Webroot. He followed the steps in this video and it fixed his problem. https://youtu.be/GNl0hmYMtB4

After searching for answers to this issue for several days this seems to be a common issue with games that use EAC after updates. I have seen many Apex and Fortnite forums (EAC games) that talk about EAC errors. Also check this EAC trouble shooting page https://www.easy.ac/en-us/support/game/issues/errors/
