Thanks for this suggestion. I do not have an AMD GPU - unfortunately this won’t work for me :(

Can look at your windows event log and tell if you see an error after launching your game.To open it just tap "event" in the Windows search bar and open it. Go in "Windows logs" > "Application". If you see an error, send me a screenshot of it.
(You need to launch the game before, to see the last error)

  Sorry to hijack but I am having the same issue, here is my screenshot from the event viewer.
  
  I have tried everything in this post, plus completely removing the EA app and BF2042 (even Steam) and re-installing all of them. I made sure I got the anticheat installer off the EA website as some people said the one that came packed with their game is out of date. I have also tried the repair feature on the anticheat installer
  My BIOS, Windows 10 and NVIDIA drivers are all up to date, I verified the files on Steam and they were ok but every time I try to load the game I get this error.

    Are you using antivirus software? What applications are running in the background while you are trying to start the game?
    Before doing all this, try to make sure that no applications are running in the background (Discord, Overclocking, external antivirus software such as Norton and Avast, etc.)
    
    You can try the following:
    - Completely uninstall your EA anti-cheat with "EAAntiCheat.Installer"
    - Then press WINDOWS + R
    - Type “msconfig”
    - Go to the “Services” section
    - Check “Hide all Microsoft services"
    - And press ”Disable All"
    - Then search for EAbackgroundservice (as shown in the image) and check it; it should be the only service checked.
    - Press OK and a page will open to restart your PC
    - Once your PC has restarted
    - Launch Steam in administrator
    - In the steam settings
    - “Downloads” section
    - Clear the cache
    
    - After that, verify the integrity of your game
    - Then start your game (it will normally install the anti-cheat automatically)
