What happens when the bug occurs? First person hand and arm do not cast shadows
What should be happening instead? First person hand and arm should cast shadows
No matter what quality level or filtering you use for shadows, the hand and arm do not cast any shadows on themselves or objects the player is holding, making them look very flat. This happens on all consoles as well from what I can see in gameplay uploaded to youtube.
This video is the best example. When at this angle, all light to the tool should be completely blocked by the arm/hand.
1.
And here is another good one, when first dropping in you can see the hand and arm dont cast any shadows on the gun during the bolt pull animation, and the fingers also dont cast any shadows on themselves.
2.
I noticed when the player dies and you're looking at the body, you can see there are no shadows cast onto the body itself from small items like the gear, the character's nose (onto their face) fingers onto themselves, etc, so this could be part of a larger problem of player models not properly casting small scale shadows (happens to other players/NPCs as well).
3.
Oddly enough, it all seems to work fine on the character model in the MAIN menu, you can see everything is properly casting a shadow (including hands onto the weapon).
4.
But once you go into the customization menu the issue comes back
5.
If this is on purpose, it would be great to have a graphical option to enable ALL objects to cast shadows.
